Welcome to Starry Skye Farm in Athol, Idaho, owned by Karen and Dave Bratcher. Our goal is to breed Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats who are conformationally correct, fill the milk pail, and are a delight to be around. We are members of the American Dairy Goat Association, and participate in their production programs for Linear Appraisal and DHIA milk testing. We do show our goats, but we are limited to a few ADGA shows per year due to work conflicts.
We had our start in goats in 2014 when Dave’s coworker Alvin Woolsey invited him to bring me out to see his wife Marilyn’s goats… they own Almar Acres Nigerians in Rathdrum, Idaho. Once I saw the wildly colorful, gentle and friendly Nigerian Dwarf goats (especially the bouncing baby kids), it was all over. We purchased a doe in milk, her doe kid, and a buck kid from the Woolseys, and have continued to purchase good stock from them as well as other quality farms through the years.
I love the easy-to-handle size of these little goats, and I often say they are so inquisitive and friendly they are almost as people-interactive as dogs.
